Narrative Photo Sequence
by Palmer Spence

What part of your project went well?

I believe that the story I was trying to tell throughout the photos was executed well. I wanted to capture the mundane trivialities of the average day, then have it take a quick turn into something that had a positive outlook in the end. I believe that idea was captured well. If I were to name it I would call it "Touch Grass".

What did you have to change?

I feel truly lucky we live in a time with .raw image files exist. It gave me absolute control over aspects I messed up throughout the composition of each image. In Lightroom Classic every image was adjusted in some way. The biggest ones would have to be that I changed the exposure in each with many fine tweeks throughout.

What did not go well?

I was fortunate enough to borrow my little brother's camera for the purposes of this assignment. However I was limited to his 55mm prime lens so I could not zoom in or out while taking each photograph. This made shots in the enclosed space of my home very difficult and frustrating at times. I think the end result is good, but having more lenses at my disposal could have made things much easier for myself.

If you could try again, what would you do different?

If I were to do this project again I would make sure I had a couple lenses to choose from. My vision for the final outdoor shots were a beautiful pink sunset creating a more impactful final arrangement, but due to the time constraint and the weather not agreeing with me it was not possible to accomplish. With that said I wish I picked a better day to go out and take those pictures. Overall after completing this assignment I have seen the challenges that come along the way and will be more prepared in the future and will have better execution going forward.
